New England Senior Tennis Breaking News

NESTF presents news about senior tennis in New England and senior tennis players in national events here. If you wish to be notified of breaking news by e-mail, send an e-mail asking to be added to kmiller@neseniortennis.org. Please add your birth year with your e-mail address as some news items are specific to age groups. Peter Allen Appointed as New NESTF President

Peter Allen has been appointed President of the NE Senior Tennis Foundation replacing Peter Vieira who recently passed away. Peter is a new inductee into the NE Tennis Hall of Fame. Long Time Senior Tennis Player Curt Tong Writes Memoirs of his Childhood as a POW in WWII Philippines

Last summer, a number of senior NE tennis players heard Curt was writing his childhood memoirs about he and his family's three plus years in civilian POW prisons in the Philippines "courtesy" of the Japanese invaders in WWII. USTA/NE Players Committee sets up exploratory task force to Investigate the Possibility of Creating NE "Senior Slam" Tournaments

The USTA/NE Players Committee set up the "Senior Slam" task force at their last meeting held 9/23/08. This task force can also consist of players not on the Players Committee as there is much work to be done to make this a reality by 2010. Any of you reading this who would like to be involved, contact Ken Miller. The task force currently consists of Ken Miller (Chair), Dorcas Miller, Lance Anderson, Amy Read, Leah Kadesh, Dag Williamson, Gary Chafetz, and George Ulrich.
