Westboro Men’s 60 Doubles Sectional Tournament

August 8-9, 2009

 

The annual New England 60s sectional doubles tennis tournament was again a big success this year. The weather was perfect, 75 and sunny, for both days of the tournament. The teams were very competitive, and the closest match was the semifinal in which 1^st seeds Bruce Mahler and Bob Tilley defeated Curt Anderson and Bob McKinley 6-4, 6-3.

 

In the finals, 2^nd seeds and long time doubles partners Tommie George and and TD Pete Allen defeated 1st seeds Bruce Mahler and Bob Tilley 6-3, 6-2. Tommie is nearly fully recovered now from a major shoulder injury from last September. Bob Fougere and George Ulrich won the round-robin Consolation event. Six of the seven teams, plus several "significant others", came to TD Pete Allen’s backyard Saturday from 4 -7 PM and enjoyed great conversation over wine, beer, and plenty of appetizers, featuring Tommie's smoked salmon and trout.
